Dr. Brechtelsbauer graduated from Davidson College with a degree in Economics. He then attended the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill for medical school. Dr. Brechtelsbauer did his General Surgery Internship and Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery residency at the University of Michigan. He then completed a fellowship in Otology/Neurology and Skull Base Surgery at the University of Michigan.
He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Brody School of Medicine of East Carolina University. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the East Carolina University Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and serves at a Board Member of ECU Health Surgicenter. Dr. Brechtelsbauer is Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, and the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.
