Dr. Holmes is not only a board-certified otolaryngologist, but also a highly trained and compassionate neurotologist (inner ear specialist), with expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of a range of complex ear and lateral skull base conditions. As a fellowship-trained surgeon, Dr. Holmes brings advanced skills and deep knowledge to patients seeking solutions for hearing loss, balance disorders, and other inner ear conditions. He completed residency training at LSU Shreveport where he received several teaching and research awards and achieved the highest score in the department on the in-training exam. He received his medical degree from University of Central Florida.
Dr. Holmes completed his fellowship at one of the longest-standing and most prominent programs in the country, the Silverstein Institute – a renowned center known for its cutting-edge research and innovative treatments in otology and neurotology dating back 50 years. This training, combined with years of hands-on experience, has equipped Dr. Holmes to offer comprehensive, patient-centered care using the latest techniques and technologies in the field.
Whether working to preserve hearing, improve balance, or address more complex inner ear conditions, Dr. Holmes provides tailored, evidence-based solutions for each patient. With a compassionate approach and a focus on the latest medical advancements, Dr. Holmes strives to deliver exceptional outcomes and restore quality of life. He was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society in 2022 for his compassion and thoroughness in patient care.
Dr. Holmes is committed to education as he trains medical students and residents in the OR and in the clinic. He serves as the advisor for the ENT interest group at the ECU School of Medicine. Dr. Holmes has published over 15 papers and continues to be active in research today, focusing on: cochlear implants, hearing loss, Meniere’s Disease, tinnitus, tympanic membrane perforation and improvement of patient experience through implementation of AI technologies and telehealth services.
